Christmas Character Crafts

Do you want to build a snowman? (Or a Santa, or a Reindeer?)

Christmas break is magical, but let’s be honest it can also be long! If you are looking for an engaging, low prep activity to keep the kids busy while you wrap presents or sip your hot cocoa, you are going to love today’s freebie.

We are sharing 4 Free Printable “Build Your Own” Christmas Crafts. These A4 PDF templates are designed to help children practice their fine motor skills while getting into the holiday spirit.

Why We Love “Cut and Paste” Crafts

Unlike standard coloring pages, these templates turn art into a construction project. They are fantastic for:

  • Scissor Skills: Cutting along the dotted lines helps improve hand eye coordination.
  • Following Directions: Kids have to figure out which part goes where (with a little help from the mini reference guide on the page!).
  • Creativity: Since they are black and white, kids can choose whatever colors they want. Pink reindeer? Why not!

Meet The Characters

We have four classic holiday designs ready for you to print:

1. Build Your Own Santa

Santa is getting ready for the big night, but he needs help getting dressed! This template features his iconic hat, fluffy beard, warm boots, and a giant sack of toys.

2. Build Your Own Reindeer

Rudolph is ready to guide the sleigh. Kids will love assembling his antlers, scarf, and cute little hooves. This is a great companion activity to watching holiday movies.

3. Build Your Own Christmas Tree

Want to decorate a tree without the mess of pine needles? This printable comes with a star, baubles, lights, and a gift to go underneath. It’s the perfect mess free decorating activity.

4. Build Your Own Snowman

It’s too cold to go outside? No problem. Build a snowman at the kitchen table! This set includes the classic carrot nose, a top hat, a cozy scarf, and buttons.

How to Do This Activity

These printables are designed for standard A4 paper. Here is the best way to assemble them:

  1. Color First: Have your child color in all the shapes before cutting them out. It is much easier to color on a full sheet of paper than on tiny cut out pieces.
  2. Cut Carefully: Using child safe scissors, cut along the dashed lines.
  3. Build and Glue: Grab a separate piece of construction paper (colored paper looks great as a background!). Arrange the pieces to build the character, then glue them down.

Teacher Tip: These make excellent classroom bulletin board decorations! Have each student build a character and display them all together for a festive wall.

Merry Christmas and Happy Crafting!
