two Spooky & Easy DIY Glowing Jars for Halloween

Hello, fellow Halloween lovers! As the spooky season approaches, it’s time to get creative with some delightfully creepy and easy to make decorations. If you’re looking for projects with a huge “wow” factor that take almost no time at all, you’ve come to the right place!

Today, I’m sharing two of my favorite glowing jar ideas that are perfect for adding an eerie, otherworldly glow to your Halloween setup. Let’s get crafting!

1. The Creepy Floating Skull Head Jar

This design is a total showstopper and looks like something straight out of a mad scientist’s laboratory. It’s incredibly simple to put together and creates a wonderfully unsettling effect.

What You’ll Need:

  • A large glass jar with a wide opening
  • A plastic skull mask
  • Water
  • Glow sticks (red or green work best for a spooky vibe)

How to Create It:

Prepare Your Jar: Start with a large, clean glass jar.

Submerge the Skull: Take your plastic skull mask and carefully place it inside the jar.

Add Water: Fill the jar with water. The water will magnify the mask and give it a creepy, distorted, and “floating” appearance.

Make It Glow: Activate your glow sticks and drop them into the water. You can tuck them behind the mask or inside the eye sockets for an extra eerie effect. Turn off the lights and watch your spooky specimen jar come to life with an otherworldly glow!

2. The Ethereal Floating Ghost in a Jar

This second idea is just as simple but creates a more ghostly and ethereal look. It’s perfect for a haunted house theme and is a fantastic way to make a big impact with minimal effort.

What You’ll Need:

  • A glass mason jar with a lid
  • A small, glow in the dark ghost figurine
  • Craft moss and cotton stuffing
  • Clear fishing line or thread

How to Create It:

Prepare the Lid: Poke a small hole in the center of the mason jar lid.

Hang the Ghost: Thread a piece of fishing line through your ghost figurine and then through the hole in the lid, tying a knot on the outside of the lid to secure it. Adjust the length so your ghost will “float” in the middle of the jar.

Create the Scene: Place some craft moss and fluffy cotton at the bottom of the jar to create a spooky, foggy graveyard effect.

Assemble and Display: Screw the lid onto the jar. When you turn off the lights, your ghost will glow beautifully, appearing to float mysteriously in its own little haunted world.

And there you have it two incredibly simple but highly effective glowing decorations that are sure to be a hit this Halloween. Happy Haunting
