Make This Adorable Paper Turkey Hat

Get ready for some festive Thanksgiving fun with a craft that’s as cute as it is easy! This DIY paper turkey hat is the perfect activity to keep little hands busy and add a touch of handmade charm to your holiday celebrations.

Whether you’re making them for a classroom party, a Thanksgiving dinner activity, or just for fun, these colorful hats are sure to bring a smile to everyone’s face. Let’s start crafting!

What You’ll Need:

  • Construction paper in various colors (brown for the band; red, orange, and yellow for the feathers; white, black, and orange for the face)
  • Scissors
  • An adhesive roller or glue stick

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Create the Headband

Start by cutting two long strips of brown construction paper, each about 1.5 to 2 inches wide. These will form the headband. Use your adhesive roller to connect the two strips, making one long band.

Measure it around your head (or the head of the person who will wear it) to find the perfect fit, then use the adhesive to secure the ends together, forming a circle.

Step 2: Cut Out the Feathers

Now for the colorful part! From your red, orange, and yellow paper, cut out several feather shapes. A simple leaf or teardrop shape works perfectly. Make them different sizes to add some visual interest.

Step 3: Assemble the Tail Feathers

Take your feather cutouts and arrange them in a fan shape. Use your adhesive roller to stick them together at the base.

Once they are all connected, attach the entire fan of feathers to the front of your brown paper headband.

Step 4: Make the Turkey’s Face

It’s time to give your turkey some personality! Cut out two large white circles for the eyes and two smaller black circles for the pupils. Stick the black pupils onto the center of the white circles.

Next, cut a small orange triangle for the beak.

Step 5: Put It All Together

Attach the two completed eyes to the headband, placing them right in front of the feathers. You can overlap them slightly for a cute, googly eyed look. Finally, stick the small orange beak right below and between the eyes.

And there you have it! Your adorable, handmade turkey hat is complete and ready to be worn with pride. It’s a wonderful way to get into the holiday spirit and create some lasting memories.
