10 Free Printable Christmas Q Tip Painting Pages

Looking for a Christmas craft that is low on mess but high on fun? You are going to love today’s freebie!

We are sharing 10 Free Printable Christmas Q Tip Painting Templates.

These A4 PDF sheets are designed specifically for little hands. Each image features small circles that are perfectly sized for a Q tip (cotton swab) dipped in paint.

It’s a wonderful way to keep toddlers and preschoolers entertained while helping them develop hand eye coordination and color recognition.

Why We Love Q Tip Painting

If you haven’t tried this activity yet, here is why it’s a favorite in classrooms and homes:

Fine Motor Skills: Holding a thin Q tip strengthens the pincer grasp, which is essential for learning to hold a pencil later on.

Focus & Patience: Aiming for the circles requires concentration and slows active kids down.

Low Mess: Unlike finger painting, the paint stays (mostly) on the Q tip!

Cheap Supplies: All you need is paper, a few cotton swabs, and a dab of washable paint.

What’s Included in This Bundle?

We have created five festive designs to get you in the holiday spirit. Here is what you can download:

1. The Tower of Gifts

A giant stack of wrapped presents waiting to be opened! This is a great one for using lots of different colors. Ask your child to make each box a different pattern.

2. The Holly Candy Cane

A classic striped candy cane tied with a bow and holly leaves. This is perfect for practicing patterns (Red-White-Red-White).

3. Santa’s Sleigh

Santa’s ride is packed with toys and ready for takeoff. This page features plenty of dots on the sleigh and the sack, keeping kids busy for a while.

4. The Gingerbread House

A yummy house with a candy roof and Christmas trees out front. This detailed design looks beautiful when completed with bright colors like pink, green, and brown.

5. The Christmas Candle

A cozy candle surrounded by holly berries. This is a lovely, peaceful design that looks great hanging in the window once dry.

6. The Gingerbread Man

Run, run as fast as you can to paint this cute cookie! With circles covering his body, kids can give this smiling gingerbread man plenty of buttons.

7. The Winter Fox

This adorable fox is dressed for winter in a patterned sweater and hat. The falling snow and pine trees create a cozy scene perfect for dot painting.

8. The Singing Elf

Spread holiday cheer with this singing elf! He is holding a book of Christmas carols, inviting children to add colorful dots to his hat and festive outfit.

9. The Christmas Stocking

Hung by the fire, this stocking is stuffed with a teddy bear and train. Kids dot the snowflakes and stripes while warming up their fine motor skills.

10. Bear Decorating the Tree

A helpful bear is decorating the Christmas tree with a star. This scene allows kids to “hang” ornaments on the branches by stamping paint into the circles.

How to Set Up This Activity

Print: Download the PDF files below and print them on A4 paper. (Cardstock works best if you have it, as it holds the paint better).

Prepare Paint: Squeeze small amounts of washable paint onto a paper plate or palette.

Dip & Dot: Give your child a handful of Q tips. Show them how to dip the tip into the paint and stamp it into the circles on the paper. Remind them: “Dot, dot, not a lot!”

Dry: Let the artwork sit flat to dry completely.

No Paint? No Problem!

These worksheets are incredibly versatile. If you don’t want to get the paint out, you can also use:

  • Stickers: Small dot stickers fit perfectly in the circles.
  • Markers: Use Bingo Daubers or thick markers to color the dots.
  • Glitter Glue: For a sparkly 3D effect.
  • Erasers: Dip the eraser end of a pencil into an ink pad and stamp away!
