What You’ll Need:
- Construction paper in various colors (orange for the turkey, plus red, yellow, blue, etc. for the feathers)
- A small piece of brown paper for the feet
- Googly eyes
- A small yellow paper triangle for the beak
- Scissors
- Double-sided tape or a glue stick
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Create the Turkey’s Body and Head

Start by cutting two strips of orange construction paper. One strip should be wider than the other. The wider strip will be the turkey’s body, and the narrower one will be its head.
Roll each strip into a cylinder and secure the ends with double sided tape or glue. Now, attach the smaller head cylinder on top of the larger body cylinder.
Step 2: Craft the Colorful Feathers

This is where your turkey gets its personality! Take your colored sheets of paper and fold each one in half lengthwise. Draw a half feather shape against the fold, then cut it out. When you unfold it, you’ll have a perfectly symmetrical feather.

Make the feathers even more realistic by cutting small, angled slits along both edges, starting from the tip and working your way down. Create a whole rainbow of feathers in different colors!
Step 3: Assemble the Tail

To create the beautiful tail fan, you’ll need a small piece of paper to act as a base. Cut a small rectangle and apply some double sided tape to it.
Begin arranging your paper feathers in a fan shape, sticking the base of each one to the taped rectangle. Layer the colors to create a vibrant and full tail.
Step 4: Put Your Turkey Together

Next, give your turkey a face by sticking on two googly eyes and a small yellow paper triangle for the beak.

Cut out a pair of little turkey feet from the brown paper and attach them to the bottom of the body cylinder.

Finally, It’s time for the final assembly! Attach the completed fan of feathers to the back of your turkey’s body.
Your cheerful and colorful paper turkey is now finished! Make a few of them to create a festive flock for your Thanksgiving celebration. Happy crafting.
