How to Make Your Own Glow in the Dark Ghost Window Clings

Get ready to add a touch of handmade spookiness to your home this Halloween! If you’re looking for a fun, easy, and kid friendly craft, you’ve come to the right place.

These adorable ghost window clings are a blast to make during the day and come to life with an eerie glow at night. Let’s conjure up some friendly phantoms to haunt your windows!

What You’ll Need:

  • Glow in the dark puffy paint (in various colors for a fun twist!)
  • A ghost template (you can easily find these online with a quick search for “ghost outlines” or draw your own)
  • A clear plastic sheet protector or a large Ziploc bag
  • Small googly eyes
  • Fine glitter (optional, for extra sparkle)

Step by Step Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare Your Ghostly Canvas

Start by printing out your ghost template. Slide the paper template inside a clear plastic sheet protector.

This is the most important step, as it creates a non stick surface that will allow you to peel your finished ghosts off easily. Lay the sheet protector on a flat, stable surface.

Step 2: Outline and Fill Your Ghost

Grab your glow in the dark puffy paint. Carefully trace the outline of one of the ghosts on your template.

Once the outline is complete, gently squeeze the bottle to fill in the entire shape. Try to create a thick, even layer of paint for a sturdy and brightly glowing cling.

Step 3: Add Some Sparkle & Spook

While the puffy paint is still wet, it’s time to add personality! Sprinkle a little fine glitter over the surface for a magical shimmer.

Then, gently press two small googly eyes into the wet paint where you want them.

Step 4: Let Them Dry!

Repeat the process for as many ghosts as you’d like to create, using different colors for a vibrant ghostly gathering.

Now comes the most important part: patience! You need to let your ghosts dry completely. This can take a full 24 hours, depending on the thickness of your paint. You’ll know they are ready when they are firm to the touch and slightly translucent.

Step 5: Peel, Stick, and Admire

Once your ghosts are fully dry, it’s time for the big reveal! Carefully peel your flexible ghost cling away from the plastic sheet protector.

It should come off easily in one piece. Now, simply press your new creation onto any clean glass surface, like a window or a mirror.

Step 6: Charge Them Up and Watch Them Glow!

To activate the spooky glow, make sure your ghosts get plenty of light during the day. Then, when night falls, turn off the lights and watch as your ghoulish gang comes to life with a cool, eerie glow.
