Presidents’ Day is a fantastic opportunity to look beyond just the famous leaders and help children understand the country they led. From the geography of the borders to the symbols of the nation, there is so much to explore!

We are excited to share our USA & Presidents’ Day Awareness Bundle. This set of 7 Free Printable A4 Worksheets is designed to give kids a well rounded introduction to the United States.

It covers Geography, Population, National Symbols, History, and even some Math all wrapped up in fun coloring activities.

What’s Inside This Educational Pack?

Here is a deep dive into each page included in this bundle and how you can use it to teach your kids.

1. USA Population Facts

What it is: A fascinating infographic style coloring page. It compares the USA’s population to China and India, shows a map highlighting where most people live (East vs. West Coast), and breaks down Urban vs. Rural living.
How to use it:

Geography Lesson: Explain that while the USA is huge, most people live near the ocean! Have kids color the crowded East Coast red and the spacious middle of the country green.

Big Numbers: Discuss what “346 Million” means. It’s a great way to introduce large numbers to elementary students.

2. USA Borders & Oceans

What it is: A map focusing on the USA’s neighbors and waters. It features Canada (moose), Mexico (sombrero/cactus), and the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans with whales. It also compares the USA’s size to Russia, Canada, and China.
How to use it:

Map Skills: Teach cardinal directions. Ask, “What is to the North?” (Canada) and “What is to the South?” (Mexico).

Color Coding: Have students color the oceans blue and the land countries different colors to clearly see the borders.

3. Washington D.C. & The Capitol

What it is: A beautiful line drawing of the US Capitol Building. It includes facts about the capital city and a “Did You Know?” box clarifying the difference between Washington D.C. (the city) and Washington (the state).
How to use it:

Clarification: Many kids confuse the state and the capital. Use the inset map to show how far apart they are (one is on the East Coast, one is on the West Coast).

Reading Practice: Read the facts aloud together while coloring the detailed dome.

4. USA National Symbols

What it is: A nature focused page featuring the official symbols of the United States: The American Bison, Oak Tree, Bald Eagle, and Rose.
How to use it:

Nature Study: Discuss why these items represent the country. The Eagle represents freedom, and the Oak Tree represents strength.

Art: These realistic drawings are great for practicing shading and texture (fur on the bison, feathers on the eagle).

5. The Star Spangled Banner

What it is: A history page about the National Anthem. It features Francis Scott Key writing the poem in 1814, along with a colonial flag and a scroll containing the lyrics.
How to use it:

Music Class: Play a recording of the National Anthem while your child colors this page.

Memorization: Use the scroll to help your child memorize the first verse of the song. Discuss what “twilight’s last gleaming” means.

6. Where Were They Born? (Mapping Presidents)

What it is: A map activity that connects three famous Presidents to their birth states: Washington (Virginia), Lincoln (Kentucky), and Roosevelt (New York).
How to use it:

Color Key: This is a logic activity. Kids must look at the key (Red, Blue, Green) and color the specific state on the map that matches the President.

Geography: Help your child find their own state on this blank map. Is it close to where Lincoln was born?

7. Cherry Tree Math (George Washington Legend)

What it is: A fun math and craft activity based on the legend of George Washington and the cherry tree. It includes a tree, math equations (addition, subtraction, division), and cut-out cherries.
How to use it:

Solve & Paste: Have your child solve the math problems (e.g., 3+2=5). Then, they color, cut out 5 cherries, and glue them onto the tree.

Storytime: While they work, tell them the story of young George Washington saying, “I cannot tell a lie.”

Teacher Tip: These sheets make excellent handouts for a Social Studies unit in February. You can staple them together to create a “My USA Booklet” for students to take home!

Happy Learning!
