DIY Rainbow Projector

Ever wanted to capture the magic of a rainbow and bring it right into your own room? Forget waiting for a rainy day! There’s a surprisingly simple and mesmerizing trick you can do with just a few common household items.

It’s a perfect activity for a quiet evening, a fun science experiment with kids, or just a way to add a splash of color to your space.

Prepare to be amazed. Here’s how you can turn your smartphone’s flashlight into a stunning rainbow projector.

What You’ll Need:

  • A roll of clear packing tape
  • A set of colored markers (permanent markers in various bright colors work best)
  • A smartphone with a flashlight

Step-by-Step Guide to Your Indoor Rainbow

Step 1: Prepare Your “Lens”

Start by taking your roll of clear packing tape. You don’t need to cut a piece off just yet. Simply hold the roll so you have a clear, flat surface of tape to work on between your hands.

Step 2: Color Your Rainbow

Now for the creative part! Grab your markers and start coloring directly onto the clear tape.

Create thick, colorful stripes right next to each other. You can follow the classic rainbow order (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet) or create your own unique color combination.

The more vibrant the colors, the better the effect will be! Cover a section of the tape wide enough to fit over your phone’s flashlight.

Step 3: Assemble the Projector

Once you have your rainbow stripes, carefully tear or cut the colored piece of tape from the roll.

Gently roll it into a small cylinder with the colored side facing out. The size should be just large enough to stand up on its own and fit over your phone’s light.

Step 4: The Grand Finale

Find a dark room for the best results. Turn on your smartphone’s flashlight and place it face-up on a flat surface like a table or the floor.

Now, take your small, colored tape cylinder and place it directly over the flashlight.

Aim the light towards a plain, light-colored wall or the ceiling and watch the magic happen.

A beautiful, brilliant rainbow will be projected from your phone, stretching across the surface in stunning beams of color! It’s a simple trick, but the breathtaking result feels like pure magic. Give it a try and light up your world.
