This set of 26 Printable A4 Worksheets is designed to turn letter recognition into a tactile experience.
Each mat features a large letter to trace with dough and a fun picture to decorate. It’s the perfect way to build fine motor skills while learning the ABCs!

Here is a peek at the fun prompts included on every page:
A is for Apple: Kids roll tiny playdough seeds and press them onto the apple. Then they form a big letter A, following the dotted lines.
B is for Ball: Children decorate the stripes on the ball with colourful playdough. Then they roll ropes of dough to build a letter B.
C is for Cat: Kids give the cat some playdough whiskers. Then they curve a rope of dough along the dotted line to make a letter C.
D is for Donut: Children add playdough sprinkles to the donut. Then they follow the dotted arrows to build a straight line and a curve for D.
E is for Egg: Kids fill in the egg yolk with yellow playdough. Then they press dough into the outline to make a letter E.
F is for Flower: Children add petals to the flower using small balls of playdough. Then they follow the dotted lines to form a letter F.
G is for Grapes: Kids roll individual playdough grapes to fill the bunch. Then they curl dough along the dotted line to make a letter G.
H is for House: Children decorate the roof of the house with playdough. Then they build two tall lines and a bar between them for a letter H.

U is for Umbrella: Kids decorate the panels of the umbrella with playdough. Then they roll a rope of dough and bend it into a curved letter U.
V is for Volcano: Children add red playdough lava flowing from the volcano. Then they press two slanted lines of dough together at the bottom for V.
W is for Web: Kids add a playdough spider to the web. Then they join four slanted lines of dough into a zigzag to build a letter W.
X is for X Ray: Children trace the bones in the x ray picture with playdough. Then they cross two ropes of dough in the middle for X.
Y is for Yo Yo: Kids decorate the side of the yo yo with playdough. Then they follow the dotted arrows to build a letter Y.
Z is for Zebra: Children add black playdough stripes to the zebra. Then they shape two flat lines and one slanted line to build a letter Z.
How to Prepare These Mats
Important Step: Because playdough sticks to paper, you must protect these worksheets before use!
- Print: Download the PDF files below.
- Laminate: This is the best method. Run each page through a laminator to make it sturdy and wipeable.
- Alternative: If you don’t have a laminator, slide the pages into plastic page protectors. It works just as well!
How to Play
- Trace the Letter: Have your child roll a long “snake” of playdough and lay it over the big letter shape (e.g., the big ‘A’).
- Decorate the Picture: Read the prompt at the bottom (e.g., “Add seeds to the apple”). Let your child roll small balls or shapes to complete the picture.
- Trace with Finger: Ask them to run their index finger over the playdough letter to feel the shape.
